Guiding the Launch
Welcome to Guiding the Launch
Raising a child into a confident, independent adult has always required patience, guidance, and trust. Today, however, the path to adulthood looks very different than it did for previous generations. Economic uncertainty, rising education costs, housing challenges, and an evolving job market have reshaped what independence looks like—and when it realistically happens. Many parents find themselves supporting adult children longer than expected, without clear guidance on how to help without hindering growth.
Guiding the Launch was created for this exact moment. This course recognizes that young adulthood is no longer a short transition but an extended phase of exploration, skill-building, and adjustment. Many capable, motivated young adults struggle not because they lack effort, but because they are navigating a world that demands more time and resilience to establish financial stability, career direction, and personal identity. When progress feels slow or uncertain, both parents and young adults can feel frustrated, anxious, or stuck.
Parents often face an unexpected challenge: there is no widely taught roadmap for parenting adult children. Most parenting strategies focus on childhood or adolescence, leaving parents to rely on outdated expectations or conflicting instincts—push harder, step back, rescue, or wait. Without a clear framework, even well-intentioned support can lead to tension, mixed messages, or dependency rather than independence.
This course introduces a new role for parents: coach rather than manager or rescuer. Guiding the Launch provides a structured, practical approach to supporting young adults as they build real-world skills, confidence, and accountability. You’ll learn how to set healthy boundaries, have productive conversations, encourage forward momentum, and reduce conflict—while maintaining a strong, respectful relationship with your child.
Guiding the Launch is not about blame, rushing milestones, or forcing outcomes. It’s about meeting today’s reality with clarity, empathy, and strategy. By using this yearlong framework, parents gain the tools to guide their young adults toward independence at a sustainable pace—helping them build a future they can stand on, and a family relationship that grows stronger in the process.
